Sometime people miss some good posts, here is a good post about the Hauensteins.

As Jimmy Hauenstine said, "C Service Runabout was the Gentleman's Class of APBA." C-186 is Fred Hauenstein, Sr.

What happened to the FORMULA E CLASS on the west coast? I propose allowing the SST 60 motor in the class to make things big and interesting! Could it happen?

When I was younger, I read the APBA rule book and realizes that an SE OPC was also a legal F Hydro in the "PRO" Division, though I never saw the "PROP" Division as "PROP" because no one raced "PRO" for aliving. I liked the term "Alky" becasue that is what we burned for fuel..."ALKY"...where "PROP" came from I never knew.......

Anyway, I encouraged the SE OPC's to race F Hydro at our Bakersfield Races. Well, as bad luck would have it, Bob Gibson won High Points in F Hydro racing a OPC SE boat.

So, the Pro Commission rule SE's out of their "ELITE" hydro class.

Today, Jimmywood, at this time, there isn't one SST 60 in NorCal or SoCal anyway, to race with Formula E boats....but if there were, they'd probably be ruled out..

Love the old pictures. One or two of those look like DeSilvas

Ron, your right about that, but what i'm thinking is lets build BIG HYDRO's and bolt the SST 60 to them! Say, 13 or 14 ft and go fast and dependable. It's silly with all the newer stuff out there to be chasing STINGER 3 holer parts. Or just bolt on a 45 motor and have an 85 mph class. We gotta do something.
