New to this great site with my first question. I have a '97 Mariner 60HP 15" shaft motor on a 15' Allison. The motor only has about 1.5hrs of run time and is in breaking mode. My motor is the 51.8cu and not the 59cu that most of you are using in your fast running aluminum hulls. Question? Is this a good power head to start tearing into, are there any bolt on performance besides reeds for this motor, or is better to just mod a 59cu power head and swap it....Thanks and looking forward to participate in this great site

Man , Thats an awesome looking Allison, you have done a great job on rigging it....What do they call that model? Im not sure about your motor question, but im sure some of the merc guru's will steer you in the right direction, My guess is that they will tell you to get the 59 in powerhead to work on and keep yours basically stock, But thats just a guess!

Thanks man, the boat is a 1980 EP-15, very rare and not many out there I believed. I rigged it up for my son who just turned 11 and he is loving it.... Great little boat and it rides really nice.

Thats cool getting him started at an early age...Id like to have one of those boats to put a 4 cyl on, I just acquired a new 13 ft Allison....looking forward to getting it in the water! Ill have to keep an eye out for the EP-15....Keep us posted as you start modifying it....
