anyone built there own tiller handle?

I have a mercury 650 I was wondering or thinking about building a tiller handle for it for my flatbottom boat? anyideas?

I had an old chrysler many year's ago, the handle was missing an i could not find one.

Been so long ago im not for sure ove size i think it was 7/8" tubing and a motorcycle throttle & cable worked for me.
