Hi guys, been floating around the forum for a while, loads of great info!!
i am hoping you can offer some suggestions for a suitable outboard to suit my new to me 15 foot hull. The rules here in australia allow for upto 1800ci or around 109ci maximum for this size hull.
Its a pad vee bottom and is very light (i can lift the transom end from the trailer quite easily), i will be doing mostly long river races but also some club days circuit racing, mods to engine are basically free, just needs to run a shifting case as i understand it.
I know an inline six is a good option, but i would like to know if there are any other good options?
i've only played with v6 mercs but keen to try new stuff!
Cheers, Jim

the original OMC 140 at 1800cc has the most potential HP at that capacity class
what mods does the class allow

i thought mods were open but i just re-read the rule book and it seems i was confused by the way it is written, ithink the motor needs to be stock for the mono class and is open to mods for the open hull class.

You might still have rules in the mod to keep it sensible like no sleeving under original and only stock crank stroke etc
Maybe even stock looking powerhead?

Martin Löfström the big winner in Oskarshamn, Sweden

The Evinrude 115 H.O. was running great..a few gear case problems but that is fixed now.
Congratulations to the win and a beautiful race boat.

Hi Jim,
Here in Victoria we race 1800 Mono super sports, any mods and non shift gearboxes are acceptable, only restricted by capacity,
Cheers.

Omc sst100 is the bench mark there and that was just a stock 140 unless you have a T2X?

Great that clears that up I was reading the rule book as the super stock class only being open to the tunnel boats, but looks like monos are ok as well! You guys in the voc/vic have a great outboard scene, I wish I could convince the wife to relocate down there!!
So where is everyone sourcing the short mids to suit the v4's??
