Ok I m talking about the powerhead only. What is the difference between the fishing motors 40-50 hp. and the 45 ss motor.? carbs?, tuner? porting?
What kind of power is the ss45 putting out? @ what rpm?
THANKS!!!!!!!

not a sst 45 racer my self, but , thinkin it's more like the 60hp twin,
thinkin the exhaust port is angled at the top like the Stinger, 3 jet carbs, twin
short tuners, may be some boost port timein, with about 150lbs of crankin psi per cyl, sounds like about 75hp to me:eek:

50-60 HP pleasure motor blocks are essentially the same as the SST45. Rods don't have the holes in the end cap, carb is different, although the same venturi size and they use the 60 HP head. The ideal block is the one that the 6 digit casting number ends in 100. The preferred one would be off of the 60 HP as it doesn't have the compression relief hole in the exhaust. And Fred, no the exhaust port is not chamferred like thye sst60.

Yes, but look for the de-compression hole in transfer port. If not there it would be preferred. However, I have used them successfully plugging the hole with epoxy. Another thing to do, take a pair of large calipers & measure from the rear of the top bearing surface to the deck. These are all over the chart. Those with the smallest measurement are thoase that are very preferable.

Close, but not quite. If they were 75-ish out of the box they'd have been a better FE motor in Mod. ;) A good modified 44 ci deflector can keep up with one in FE
