FF, where is the best place to look up info on the SLT" s thanks....

Fast Fred

each of the first four are the best hulls, each one has it's own personality,
the Aquarus would be the top end hulls over the others, the others have thare high points, out of them you can just pic the hull that fits you the best.( it's not like the Aquarus is heaps faster, like some 100ths, compaired to the rest on an even match 50hp stock setup)
"X" class is lookin hot, Moda rules are at amin. so you can build something nice
like SST60, Stinger, hot rod 52, 59ci Merc, heard thears a bunch of them Mod50
boats runnin in that class,

the hull up top, (the white one) She got a 850cc "X" class Yamaha on it, BUT it's an Outboards Unlimited sponcored "X"class race hull, that means that the Yamaha is more like 1000cc makin 100+hp:eek:
never heard of South Pacific, see what thay got, see how it stacks up on the others:cool:

I have a yammie 90 hp is this motor leagle? How much is it going to cost me to make it a short shaft? are the parts easily available? Will the yammie 70 hp and the 90 parts bolt up to the same mid/ gearcase? Where is the best place to find rules and specs (web site?) What is needed besides a boat and eng? What for rigging? (jack plates, power trim , steering? etc.) do you use stock steering arms? THANKS!!!!

Fast Fred
05-21-2006, 09:14 AM
the yam 90 is over 1000cc's it would be to big for "X" class, you can make a short out of it, but ya need a bunch of parts, not the same as the 70hp,
thay make an Endro handel for the Yamaha, you want the one for the 75C hp moda, the 70hp yamaha steerting tube is beefy enuff, mor beef than the 50hp.
Bay City Mi, i'll find a date for ya, that would be a good stop for a look at some. you want to keep the moda weight down, best to use a lighter moda to make such power for best handlin:cool:

So it seems that the yam 70 is the one to have??? Do the make a stock yammie 70 short shaft? What about a merc 60 ss? It would be nice to see a bunch of boats at bay city. can you get me more info? THANKS!!!!

Fast Fred
05-22-2006, 02:50 AM
the Yamaha 70ces dose hold the fastest Marathon time, and i do expect that white boat to be up front, till i run it down with my OMC- Yamaha killer:eek: :eek:http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/7530/newstuff31dy.th.jpg (http://img163.imageshack.us/my.php?image=newstuff31dy.jpg)

well seems Bryan Lauer has won high points this year in "X" class, way to go, come a long way since i saw ya hit that pin at the 1/2 point at the top O', just before i passed ya. Mad Mark H. took it to 4th over all, nice. Double OH 5th over all. good stuff.

in other news seems some are sayin a 20" shaft works, i know it works to some degree, But not even close to what should be. same people said a 40hp merc was the same as a 60hp, the 40hp just needed 60 carbs and a 60 pipe. it took about five sec. to look it up the 40hp case. it is not the same, not even close,
bunch of racer went out and got them selfs a 40 hp thinkin that what thay was told was true. Not, thay could never keep up, turned in to a waist of time and $$$$$$$$$ for them racers. don't get pulled in, YOU NEED A STANDARD SHAFT
MODA that is all thare is to it. don't waist your time you will be just disapointed.
did that been thare.

Fast Fred

so how do ya get like an Etec or an ,...??? not sure thares any thing else i would think about my self, but you could make it work for a 4 choke as well but thares more to it. Make a Tower, a 15", use the stock exhaust block, on the bracket, i'd most likely go to a smaller one , cuzz i don't need that T&T stuff, but thats me, but ya can use the t&t bracket, so with the 15" tower, from thare
you got to, line up the bottom mounts, shorten the pickup toob, the drive shaft, and the shift rod. the hardest task been the lower mounts, think them out when you are makin the tower.

Last season I raced my first Top O' Michigan marathon. It was also the first time I shared the the water with the SLT's. I'll never forget getting the @*#& beat out of me while racing thru the big lakes. The water was pretty rough. I remember seeing all the SLT's zip past me. WOT over the rough stuff, not even phased by it! MAN I envyed them!
Perhaps someday I'll transition into an SLT package. They're SWEET! But not yet... my knees still have a few more good years left.

the reed blocks become the limiting factor, the bigger the block the more air and fuel you can get in to the cyl.

that one that Al had up thare with the 19s front 1/2, and the progressive carbs,
with about 10hrs on it. lookin nice, all that would get ya far more than 1/2 way thare:cool: i'm sure he's not givein it a way. but thinkin that if ya could get Sea-way to build it with the m31 front1/2, a set of them carbs, all new stuff, drop on, with the adapter, in 56cubits, bet be talkin 8g's,:eek: for the power head and adapter:cool:

Fred i never saw him but he was there.Hek! i still didnt get a answer for my question. As for new rules they out lawed hard bottom`s or below water line mod`s,ya cant have zipped tied kill switches like Berg`s,20`` motors are allowed.ya can now run Etech`s thanks to me.wich means any fuel injection is gonna be alllowed in X o yeah you love this we can now have 12 boats per class on the corse at one time.So if there were banditt, outlaw & X thats 36 boats.thats to damm funny,We now have 4 marthons in michigan and 8 or 9 races total.I dont get in any of the pissing contest that happen at these things so you will have to get a new rule book to find out any of the other crap. Call me 3135704691 latter on

Fast Fred

not sure what a zip tie kill switch is, them guys from down south been after the hard bottoms forever, kinda did not think B' would mess with the rules like that, they stoped makin hulls like that a long time ago,not sure thares any point. oh well , yup been thinkin about injection, more like 2.5 OS style.

Berg zipp ties his kill switch to his ropes in front. they dont want anybody slapin a hard surface on there boat for some reason not sure why but SeaWolf some how ended up with my old ceasar hard bottom and are pumpin out copy`s.thats the word on the street. the zollers were there and i think that may be a reason for some of this new rule stuff cause there wasnt much you could change. That reminds me they added a bunch of subtitles to rule 30,010 and that is the X rule that keeps it X class not super outlaw and now i`m afraid it`s gonna be supper outlaw with some of the attchments that were added.Hek! region 5 dont even have x`s that run its berg and thats it. so they picked on X and it blows!!!!!

Fast Fred
02-07-2008, 04:25 PM
till the board ok's it it's just talk, seems that name sounds familiar on makin rules up, that don't work and or are just out right wrong, so why the hell would you want to keep out a hard bottom Seawolf ?

well, another season gone, lookin like maybe we'll have enough boats to go racin
hear in region 1 in 09, see what happens.

i do not like what has been done with the Marathon rules, though i am not surprised that for no reason that thay were changed.
Was a two day race, now it's not, you don't even have to show up for both days to win.????????????????????????.:(:mad::eek::coo l:
