Hi there all!
Here in Australia we have a stock 25hp class (grait low cost racing) mainly consisting of mono's. Here is one of my "Wingboats" that I build, designd to trap air under the hull. You can go racing for around $1900.00 US and these do speeds around 60mph.
This is a fantastic forum and I reconmend this site to all my frends.
Thanks for looking
Damien:)

Damien,
Nice Boat, the hull look very similar to the one I use for Bathtub racing......I believe the design did come from Autralia.

Do those boats run trim?:D

We run a fine tune trim on the transom but in windy conditions we use our body weight to move back and fowrd. We run no seats in the boats just sitting on a padded floor. I have just made a seat with no bottom so on long races we can sit back into the seat to rest our arms but still sit low in the hull and move backward and foward to suit as well. In this class the seat is optional but moast of us like to sit low in the boat (personal choise)
Thanks
Damien :)

Hi Blizard
I live in the Gold coast in Queensland on the eastern side of Australia. Although most of my racing is in Victoira in Melbourne so I leave my rig at a mates place and fly down every 5 to 6 weeks as there is better racing with bigger fleets as well.
Thanks

No probs anytime.!
There are 3 big races around that area every year that we travel to and heaps of good racing with all types of these wingboat designs. I would be more than happy to hook up at one of these races and by all means take one of my boats for a run. Give us a tingle when your down in OZ my e-mail is damo@onthenet.com.au
Cheers

Not sure if Damien has explained his process for making these boats, but he's one of the first racer type guy to incorporate vacuum infusing (resin infusion) in to his boat building.

Hey Brian
This is ware I got my initial Information from for vacume infusion www.aerovac.com and they placed me onto the Australian agent (FGI International) to purtchase the raw materials. Although it looks high tec it was suprisingly very easy to do as I can substitute alot of fittings from what was reconmended to simple garden hose fittings instead, this bourght the price right down on alot of the desposable fittings.

A good tip in mould relesse I use a liquid wax called TR-920 simply wipe on then wipe off no elbo effort needed and the hulls just fall out this is an Amerecan product and my supplier has to fly the product in

Haw are your tunnels going?

It semms as though i will be coming to Autralia next Dec for a little over a year. I will be working in Williamtown for your military. Vacuum infusion is a cool process messed around with it a bit when i was in the service. How much are one of your hulls?

Hi there Bilzzard
for a hand laid boat for around 55 to 60kg $1100.00 AUD or vacume infused hull and deck 40 to 45kg around the $1800.00 AUD mark. The model you see is the old one I am currently working on a 13' model that will suit between 25hp to 50hp as I can make the weight to suit the hp and the wings at the back are wider for more lift. This will have a brand new deck like a semi capsual with a removable rear cowling.
Thanks
Damien :D

What type of engine and prop are you running?

Hi Tom
Any stock 2 cyl is fine but we mainly use Tohatsu because of the gear box ratio. As of last year many of us use a Merc 10 x 18 chopper but cupped and thinned but now a few of us have orded the Winrace props from Norway. Very good prop but still working on the set up , trim etc
Cheers
