I finally got a printer/scanner combo so I can finally upload some of the Mod VP pics from the old days. Not to many, can't really see that much in them, but they're vintage!

LOL! I happen to know this boat. It was the 4th one out of the mold(#'s 1&2 went to Chris Bush I understand) and this one went to David Goodfellow out of Fort Worth TX. He built that trailer in his garage and he raced the boat for several years with a 235 Evinrude before selling it to another man here in the Fort Worth area. The boat was blown over but is still in storage with minor damage to the rear deck area on one side. Structually sound. David verified that the trailer was his and that was his old boat. He was out at Lake Grapevine to watch an early test session with Roark and Chris Bush. He saw the boat run and plunked down the $$$$ right there with Roark.

I just sent him this pic and he got a big kick out of it. He said the boat was supposed to be in the 400# range but ended up around 570#. He ran it in a few SORA races but mainly ran SDBA with a modded 235 and a big load of N2O.

Cool pic and good to see some pics of the old girl..

He seems to be sitting up pretty high in that boat. I remember when Roark asked dad to drive Chris's boat a couple times the seat was so low in the boat dad sat on a pillow to see over the dash.

Got any pictures of the difference between the long and short deck boats?

David and I were talking right after he was a Lake Grapevine when Roark and Chris were testing the original boat. He was raaving about how the new boat turned and accelerated. I believe they were testing it against a 380 Ray which is a pretty fair circle boat in its own right. I gues the new LTV was killing the Ray no matter who drove which boat.

We all know the outcome when the LTV and Chris Bush hit the IOGP Circuit.

David's boat was a long deck. Chris ran a short deck in the IOGP.

I thought there was a difference in the pre-pickle fork boat. The boat dad raced was Chris's yellow and blue #1 boat like the yellow one pictured.

Please tell me somebody remembers the yellow and blue #1 Laser I'm thinking of? It was before the modern day STV like the red one.

Bet that Rude powered Stoker was comin to the front in that pic. I remember Al was always way at the back after the start and that old OMC made big round turns and passed boat after boat till it was in the lead almost every time..

Tim, go here:

1983 St. Louis Mod VP Final. There were several LTV's. #1 was Bush. The yellow #6 was Greg Foster. That's all I remember.

I do remember a yellow and blue one, but I don't have any pictures and I don't remember where.

Regarding you comment on the yellow boat, that was 1985 St Louis. Al won.

I remember the one that you are talking about. Powerboat had a pic of that boat sitting at the dock and you could see inside it... Chris was just about to blast away from the dock it appeared. I remember it well. I still like that color combo. Yellow and blue... Yep. I'll have to dig around and see if I still have that issue of PB.

RussI know it was on the cover of Propeller Magazine because Chris won Parker the year dad and Louis Collins drove for Fred Bowden in the #34 Mod VP and broke while leading.

Hey Matt, bet you got a picture of it somewhere!:D

The pic of the HydroStream with the Jonny in the boat was in Pineville, La at Lake Buhlow. I`m not sure who the boat belong`s to. I know the other two boat`s in the pic and thats our motorhome in the background.

I'm sure Dad and the rest of the Laser (or Twister) crew had something to do with the ticket book...

I don`t know if it`s the same boat but we have an old blue and yellow LTV(narrow cockpit, short deck) race boat here in Shreveport. It belong`s to a friend of mine and it has an arrow head on the deck with three colors. Red, Orange and yellow. It`s being painted white in a few week`s and will do lake duty.
