I have wondering about this for many years, left racing in 1970, my brother and I were running these classes then. In 69 or 70, can't remember which I set a JSH Kilo record that lasted less than 30 minutes. Something like 36.6. Janis Lee broke it at 38 and change. It was the second season I think after the class was started.

Would be curious to know a couple things. When was that record beaten, if ever, with a 60J before the classes changed engines. 5 mile and kilo records. Would also like to know how the JU records progressed when running the old 60J.

By record books only go to 1968.

I know this is the right place to ask!

I ran a 60J till the end of ’85 and I don’t believe those records were ever broken by a 60J. The records didn’t start to fall till the 7.5 Merc arrived. I believe Ryan Jones got the JSH 1¼ record in ’85 (With 12 boats!). Then Nathan Adams got a couple also during the next few years. We didn’t run hardly any JSR in the North West through the 80’s.
