sst 120 ?

I'm kinda new to all this SST stuff. I have a sst 60 boat I play with. But my ? is what is the length of a sst 120 boat and what is the length of a champ boat. Don't know if I am really thinking about trying to race but has crossed my mind a couple of times when I'm out playing with my 60 boat. One other ? what is the average start up cost to get you on the course "whats the least $ to see if I like it".

The boats are basically 16-17 feet. There is some differences in lift because of the speed and power differences. You could get into 120 for probably as little as $10,000-$12,000 and go up from there depending on how competitive you want to be. There are some people getting out of 120 right now with some top notch, competitive equipment for sale. My opinion is to buy a boat race ready.

barry is right on with buying a turn key rigg for a newcomer to class
there is a lot of old hulls (pre 2000)out there for sale 2,000=5,000
sounds cheap,,,,but by time you aquire mid,powerhead,gearcase,missing rigging and props you will spend more than a competative new style turn key rig
then you have a learning boat,,,,,
old design has less lift,wood being old with issues,,ect
new design boats are wider ,,,more stable with more lift,,,competitive,,,,



10,000-12,000 for a turn key is a good window for an older rig
i have my 2005 carbon boat ill let go turn key for 15,000 that has been to podium and qualifies in the top
kevin ladd has his boat at 20,000 that has been to podium since was owned by scott,,,,

these boats are only a few thou different from older rigs
but best to learn in what works today,,,,,,
than what was raced yesterday,,,
