Anyone remember the class D Alky Ashburn Runabouts? Back around the late 1960s and early 1970s there a few of them that were lightened up quite a bit that could not only motor down a straightway but could turn on a dime. At that time both working and going to University money was not plentiful so I bought me and Asburn runabout, already had 2 Merc 40Hs, relegated one engine to DSH and the other was assigned to DSR on that Asburn. It didn't make too many people happy with Merc 55Hs that summer because it, the Asburn never came first all season but did come in second (more so) or third (less so) consistently it came in First for overall Manitoba provincial championship points. Today my old 1960s Asburn with a 40H sits in a fellows rec room in Winnipeg on permanent display. Is the present owner a racer? Nope! But a spectator with the rest of his family he very much was.

Picture taken of me waiting for heat 1 or 2 to start on the Red River racecourse in 1971.
