I am sorry to hear from T-REX that the BYUBOYZ will not be coming to the Parker 300 this year. I am afraid that the "hard times" and gas prices will be affecting a lot of the entries. The big Turbine that promised to be so much fun just didn't come together in time, and has got too many $$'s tied up to waste it before it has been thoroughly tested and ready to go. T-REX himself has two engines to run and no boat to put'm on. If things don't get better fast around here, I may offer him my HST.:( Capnzee

The Pat Bowman, Tony Scalata entry owned by Jim Harris and Ron is 18'6" and weighs 1,180 pounds...with no seat or battery. We dropped the 2.0 liter powrhead on her today....We hope to go test Tuesday with Capnzee in that HST THING ...

We will have a 2.0 powerhead on the BMB Storage boat owned by Ron Hill and driven by Chad Hill and MAYBE Todd Bowden in time to run the Enduro....

Hill Racing is "PARKING" Both S-3000 EFI motors to run 2.0 Liters..Division III makes sense to us and we are supporting it....The money saved on gas by running a 2.0 liter will buy us another 2.0 powerhead....

A Wacker will win....but 26 PRE ENTRIES is pretty cool as I know of at least two that have NOT entered...One is Boat #34 BMB Storage....Barton Murray and Bowden, Division III.

And Boat #55, Al Stoker of John's Custom Marine fame...Division VI..

Testing went well today....Stoker's Division VI boat was around 100...Capnzee and Chad Hill in the Scarlata/Pat Bowman Entry was in the early 80's...or late 70's....

We'll have a race and the modern era handicap system, designed by Rod Zapf, will become 100% a factor in the October 25, 2008, Blue Water Resort and Casino 300 Enduro....

ADD:

A "Wacker" will win just because.......................

capnzee
10-15-2008, 08:04 AM
I don't believe a Div III boat can win with th handicaps that have been set up this year. The Division VI boat (notice I only said boat as in one boat-Stokers) will win this race. He ran WELL OVER 100. Gary Hairbedian will be right behind him. Other Division boats will scatter themselves along the way of the top 10 as will the Div III boats. If a good strong Division II boat can manage to stay alive, it should fall in right behind the number 17 boat of Gary's. Of course then there are the Nordic Boats. They have at least 3 entries and as was proven last year, they don't break. Expect to see a Nordic in the top 5, as long as they enter themselves in the correct Division. I will send my entry in today plus the late fee. I don't know how we ever let the Div.II boats start in front of the Div. III boats. Inborders get all of the breaks:) including engine breaks. My guestamit is that we will have around 35 to 40 boats in this years Enduro, in spite of the high fuel costs (which are coming down) Seems like there is a lot of interest, it should lead to a lot of entries--Let's hope it does!!!:) Rod

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!--DIV III RACERS!!! I am finding there are a lot of carburetors out there that fit the 2.0 liter Mercs. Many of them have a Venturi that is larger than the 1 5/16ths" that is specified in the rules. Naturally the larger carburetors are the ones that most racers would be looking for. Before you get yourself in trouble, make sure you have a carburetor that measures 1 5/16" or less at the venturi. The inspector will be measuring your venturi and weighing your boat at the Parker 300. Capnzee

Warning! The Inspector For The Parker 300 Has Stated That There Will Be No Tolerance On Carburetor Measurements. The Rules States That The Venturi's Must Measure No Larger Than 1 5/16'. :)rod

Rod,

May want to have them check before the race during inspection for those unsure.

capnzee
10-19-2008, 04:11 PM
Racer 55 is absolutely right make certain your carb is legal BEFORE the race, you may not have time to replace the carbs if they are too large at the venturi. Inspector Roger Carr has stated that there will be NO TOLERANCE given since it is not so stated in the rules. I just received a set of WH-46'S. I was told they were bone stock and the venturi's had not been touched--they measure too large. The venturi measures 1 3/8" and my GO-NO GO gage slides right in. It is a very simple procedure to make a measuring device out of a peice of aluminum that measures 1 5/16" for the first half inch or so then steps out to 1 3/8". The measuring device will slip right into a legal carb and will stop when the step out is reached. DON'T WAIT TIL RACE DAY THEN CRY I DIDN'T KNOW--Call if you have questions. Rod:)

El Hombre
10-19-2008, 05:22 PM
So which carbs measure 1 5/16? Are you sure that whoever set the rules could have miss measured? I cant' believe mercury would make one carb with 1 5/16 and another at 1 3/8 does not make sense!

fyremanbill
10-19-2008, 07:41 PM
All the carbs in 2L class were checked at inspection last year and passed. Like capnzee said, better check them.

good luck to everybody racing this weekend!!!

Ron Hill
10-19-2008, 09:30 PM
Both of our engines measured 1 5/16...both came from Chris Fairchild...Personally, I've got not problem opening Classic Mod VP to 1 3/8 as there are many carbs out there that size.....But with any size, a PLUS needs to be established....No need for a minus in a carb size....

Say 1 3/8 plus .030 for Classic MOD VP, no machine work allowed...as I see no reason to start allowing someone to machine their carbs to 1 3/8 plus .029....I'm saying make all carbs that Merc made legal...make it EASY for people, not difficult!!!!

capnzee
10-20-2008, 06:48 AM
Great idea for the future Ron, but for now I am afraid we are stuck with the rule--carb venturi MUST measure 1 5/16" or less to be legal for the Parker 30 2008. Incidentally, there are a million carburetors out there that are of legal measurement, as well as there are a million carburetors out there that are illegal. :) Rod

Thanks - Franky

capnzee
10-20-2008, 04:12 PM
That is an excellent question, I would direct that question to Roger Carr, the inspector. Would he pull the head, use a borescope, pull the front half??I suppose he could do all of those things or any one of them. Roger, if you are up on this thread, please feel free to jump in. :) Rod

Thanks - Franky

I assume you are asking how the inspecter might check it, not what's the difference between the 2 types.
The port configuration can be seen by removing a spark plug and looking in the cylinder with a light. The difference between the port configurations is very obvious. I think anyone who places well will also be torn-down to check head CC's, so the ports can be examined then as well.

I thought we really opened the Parker 300 up by starting jet boats in Division I. They have been the talkers for the last 3 years! With the big head start, you would think there would be a bunch of entries. My money still goes to a GN boat if it can only finish it will be Number 1. We are down to just a few days before the race, is it possible that we could get a look at an updated entry list?:) Capnzee

It would be reasonable to assume that the first person registering with a number owns that number and a later registrant must change his/her number to be in compliance. Further, adding an X will not suffice as the computer will not take letters. A person changing the number , for example number 7 must change to 77 or for that matter 71, 72 or change the number completely to 38 or whatever. etc. Mr. Bowman, you are a gentleman for offering to change your number! :) Rod
