hey guys my mate has got a 50 hp EFI 4 stroke merc on the back of his fishing boat and it just really doesnt preform!

its slow out of the whole slow top speed and porposes sometimes!

i have made some adjustments to get rid of the porposing

But we want more HP

can anyone tell me if i can change the fuel and ignition mapping to a 60hp i know they are the same engine but the fuel and ignition mapping are diffrent so can i get a down load or do i need to change the computer if i need to change the computer where can i get one at the right price!

also the prop has a 12 X 13 vengance prop on it and i rekon personally the prop is way to small and should have something like a 12 X 17 on it!

or what about the fuel and ignition mapping of a FORMULA RACE engine?? hint hint nudge nudge RON

Being a dealer may or may not make the guy an expert.. you need part #s ;)

B4 doin any serious motor work check the boats basics, weight, condition of bottom, aqua/aerodynamics, setup and the best prop,, might be less pitch than whats on it. With all that sorted out then motor work can really help.

Same as the std 60 ... there are NO changes to the powerhead for the FR engine

they have the same cams..........the ECM is different (different mapping), pretty much everything else is the same......

Mercury Marine..................about $750

PS: the 40/50's also have a RESTRICTOR in the throttle body......you can remove it, but it will probably mess up the fuel curve mapping of the engine........possible damage!

its not that easy anymore................all the dealer has to do is plug in the laptop and the ECM will tell the dealer EXACTLY how that motor was ran or abused.................same as pretty much all new motors.............ETECS, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, etc............no more "misguiding" the truth...........;););)

but if the engine just leaned out and melted a piston how can they prove it was me that made the engine lean out?
