& want to put an ignition [CDI] from a locked up 15 I got some time ago. I heard the taper was the same on the crank but turns out to be 'almost'. The flywheel sits so deep that the nut wont reach it. I got a CDI for an OMC B1 mod that I dont know exactly what its from..

I fit fine & works good. Does anyone know what its from?

I am having a hard time seeing the close ups but lemme give it a shot.

The coils on that motor appear to be what the 22 cu. in. 18/20/25 HP OMC used from 1972 through 77 or 8. It's a good igintion, you should get hot fire that will jump a good 3/8". As long as you run the correct mag plate, with all the goodies that match those coils, you should have no trouble. Points will work just about as well if you use the factory ignition fixtures to time them until you hit 6500 or so. so, how tight are you going to be winding that bad boy up?

OOps, sorry Bill that pic was before I actually put the later coils on. Your right about them being magneto type. Under that black flywheel is a pickup coil/powerpack combined. I dont think Ill want to run it over 6500, the rod cages are at risk around 7. No problem running the Mag till I find something,Thanks
