I remember Larry Guimond and a couple of other people had Blackbird ModVP boats (Stoker bottom with a capsuled deck that looked like an SR-71 Blackbird airplane). Does anybody have any pictures of those? It was a cool boat.

Sam,

Didn't that guy who ran Super Sport from Florida, not Danny McManus, runa black Black Bird....Can't think of his name, but he ran Kanakee in Super Sport two years ago!

You going to put a 2.0 liter together for The Blue Water Resort and Casino 300 in 2010????

Hope your OLD MAN is still recoverying Ok from his cancer surgery!!

Speaking of Revolution's, how's it going? I have a Revolution on order, for about a year now. If this ever happens, I will also have a HST available--doesn't seem like there is a shortage of boats for the COR-2.0 class. Havasu landing is next, then the Brawley bull pen???

A Bull Ring is where the Bull gives it all up.....a pen is where he eats and gets fat....

COR 2.0 are on the schedule for Brawley, but as I said in an earlier post, We'll be at the Miami Boat Show. But Mickey can run the Baker!!! As we won't have THE APPLE VALLEY MARINE Stoker running by then...

I talked to Jason, yesterday, and the NEW REVOLUTION "PLUG" is being finished up...

There is also a bar in Redondo Beach called the "Bull Pen" and if the one in Brawley is anything like the one in Redondo Beach, it will be a lot of fun! and why would you go to Miami during the Brawley race? You always put fun before work in the old days--has Lauri put the "clamps on" or are you just getting old! :) Rod

Bull Pen is a franchised sprts bar. The one here in Encinitas is owned by a former stripper who dresses the part when she bar tends.

I had one of those Blackbird boats barrol roll in front of me at Augusta back in the day. It was good for me because my trim wires on the wheel had come unplugged. Have you ever tried to plug wires together during a 15 boat heat of Mod-VP. It ain`t gonna happen!
Fixed it at the restart dock.

I allways thought that Blackbird deck looked cool.

So no one has any pics of the old BLACKBIRD??? I heard it looked like the Stealth bomber. Maybe it wouldn't show up on film anyway???

I remember talking to the guy that rolled his boat in front of me. He couldn`t understand why Al Stoker was upset with him for copying his boat hull. He felt like Al should have taken it as a compliment that he choose his boat to copy. Least that's what he told me anyway.

When my brother saw a rag over a prop, he'd always say in a loud voice, "We're proud of our props, we like people looking at them."

To Stoker's credit, they really built an amazing boat. Their 20 foot, SST Tunnel handled (still does) like a dream.

A guy came to the shop looking to buy a Volvo Propeller for his 289 Ford Cobra on a 270 Volvo outdrive. I said, "Wow, that is so cool, a perfectly restored Donzi, Sweet 16." He said, "Actually, it is a 'splash' of a Sweet 16. But Don Aronow, sued them, and got the molds. They only built like five boats."

Chip Wavro #33 races a Blackbird in Super Sport OPC. I can't seem to find any pictures of the boat but I know there are some on here somewhere. The boat runs very well for a green 150

They are still running Super Sport back in this part of the country. My Buddy races a Vision Craft. There are probably only about 8-10 Super Sport boats running but I know Chip has bought a few recently and they are trying to grow this class again. It's a neat class. Gotta have a roll cage or capsule. With the 150's They probably run high 70's down the straights in race form. I think its 1600 lb min weight. I drove the Vision Craft last week. It is a flighty hull even with a 150. I bet it was kick with a Mod VP motor on when they ran Mod VP with them.

The one`s I saw run did very well. SS need`s more HP. 150`s are boring. At least the class allows all type's of Mod-VP hull`s
