Porting a Merc 300.
After reading Mr. Brinkman's book I took it out on a Merc 300. We will see if it will work on this hotrod motor? Couldn't do all the work because the 300 doesn't have all the room that is needed. She has the 5/8" ports. So what do you think? My mill is old and so am I! LOL

Looks good so far. You can save alot of hand work by milling bridges for & aft. Just be careful not to narrow them. Also it may be too late, but you don't want to raise ports unless an H leg or stacks are used.

I am trying to learn from all of you masters. Will be fun to see how well it go's.

While you're at it, how about adding a divider to the exhaust? The later Mercs (and, ironically, the first 40 cubers) had them.

Been thinking about that? Looking at the 40H I have been thinking maybe it could be built into the exhaust cover?
Going to work on that.

Why not? Did that witha Merc 200 a few years back.

What differences did you get with the Merc 200 by dividing the exhaust at the plate? Did you do anything for the exhaust in the tower?
