The lady is the top of picture #27 with the microphone is Molly "Bee" Ballou.
(Twin Engine Outboard Drag Racer, APBA Council Woman, Chief Score, and all around great lady. I have an interview planned.....).
But YOU GUYS keep posting so many things to look at I don't have TIME!!!!
Ron, you made my day.
When I was going through some stuff a few days ago, I saw Molly's photo in the binder with OPC & inboard flat bottoms at Palacious. Then Jeff's post pops up and I go back to it. I remembered reading about her in Powerboat, but I was thinking drags like Jeff mentioned. I knew it was Molly though, so I put it out there waiting for someone to confirm it. Thanks.
Almost forgot what I came here for. Ron surprised me and I forgot to put these up from Yelm, Washington 1976
Mike Jones, Mike Jones, bottom picture, Mike Jones and Ron Anderson...
Top picture is???
ADD: Molly "BEE" Ballou...After my "JIMBO" guessing game, I wanted MissBK to identify Molly first....finally, I remembered that was here for sure...
Bruce Nicholson and Charlie Bailey. And that picture wasn't from Yelm. I was looking for one more last night at 11:30 when I got a call a rig between Victoria and Houston would be ready by the time I got there. So I just sent the only other one ready to go & took off. Just got back 11:30 this morning.
Those guys, I knew I should knoiw them, but faces and names were'nt clicking...Yelm, Selm...Wish I'd gone in '76.... Had a ball there in '77.
Except, that John Meyer broke the CU record, I didn't and I'm still mad!!!! (LOL, John and JW Meyer).
I guessing the JSH driver is Chip Jones....
Sorry to throw you off like that Ron. We always enjoyed Yelm. We there in 1980? also. It was when Mt St Helens blew out. My dad drove up & I flew in. He told about some incredible sights.
In one of the little towns out there someone broke into his suburban during the night and stole his suitcase and a 12 ga. shotgun. Since he was a big man, he was more concerned about the clothes. Out in some nearby woods, he spotted something white. He went over and found a shirt, then a little farther some more clothes. The thief was digging through the suitcase as he went, discarding clothes along the way. He eventually recovered all or most of it at the end including his shotgun.
The two regrets I have about Yelm are, you could not test to get the setup right before the races, and I always forgot the clock turned solid black. Both times I burned the first heat circling around looking for the hand and when I realized what was going on I would be way out of position.
These are from Alexandria, La. 1977
Let's see, top picture center, Hal Tolford, middle picture left, Lee Sutter next to Sutter is Billy Kurps, and third picture Cindy Hosler Townsend.Quote:
