When I started racing my first heat was in a stock BU runabout in a Van Pelt with a Mercury KG-4H on the back. (I stepped up because they were not racing AU in that regatta) The BU field consisted of myself and 2 Martin 200s, four Mercury KG7Hs, a KG-7 with a club foot, two Waterwitches and a pre-war stock 20ci OMC. The next year the Merc 20H started in competition. What was your first race like?
