    Default Mickey Garrett

Next in the where are they now catagory . . . Mickey Garrett

Mickey raced out of Lakeland Florida in the seventies and eighties. He was a very methodical, very dedicated racer who ran successfully in a GP Hydra-Stream (Black Sabbeth) and s SG McCall (Blood, Sweat & Tears).

When he went to Champ he ran out of the SunDance Marine shops in Ft. Lauderdale in first a Seebold, a Hodges and finally a Burgess. The last two with the Lowenbrau / Miller Beer Sponsorship. He is known for winning the St. Louis race (85 I think) with the Miller boat at the Seebold / Bud Light race.
The local press ate it up! He ran the Burgess for another year or so without sponsorship out of the Merten family shops in Wisconsin, then hung it up and bought a bass boat. A loss to boat racing, as he was a top competitor in every thing he ran.

Mickey had worked his entire career with the phone company and I think retired a ways back . . . possibly moved to Lake Kissimmee. Fell off the racing radar. (Mick had definite hermit tendencies :-) )

Any body seen the Mick this century?
