Jim Hallum Pictures Batch 4 - Anzanis

Pictured within this batch of pictures are 3 British Anzani Alky racing variants from 250cc to 322cc developed for racing either closed course or kilo trials that took these engines further, longer and faster there in Region 10 of the USA west coast where most of everything was running down real fast in the USA midwest where everything was changing in Alky racing from Anzani, Harrisons and padded block deflector Mercs by Quincy Welding to Quincy Flathead Loop , Konig and other engines for Alky classes.

Featured here are the 2 exhaust piped single carb 250cc Anzanis.

Featured here are the 4 exhaust pipe (2 megaphones switchable to 2 expansion chambers) single carb Anzanis developed as 322cc engines. Not known if done as a 250cc similar variant was ever done in this configuration of switchable exhaust pipes.

Featured here are the 2 exhaust pipe and 2 carb Anzanis, that also were developed that way for both A 250CC and 322CC Anzani racing engines.

The kind of Anzani engine that blew up on racing startup back in the mod 1970s was owned by Gene Strain of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and was a 2 carb version with 2 exhaust pipes that both Region 10's Anderson and Hallum would prepare just like the one in the pictures here. Fragments of the engine are seen in different pages of this thread on Anzanis.

*The four carburettor 2 megaphone exhaust later model Anzani engines that ran the kilo trials speeds up into the 107 mile per hour ranges came during the later period in which these videos were taken which also will hopefully end up here too when I do the VHS tape conversions to DVDs where they exist now for future conversion. Even then with the 4 carb Anzanis running the kilo trials participants using Karlsen hulls still did not have the length and dimensions of a hydro thatwould allow them to open up the Anzanis all the way to full throttle and the engines could still go faster than 107 mph yet. To my knowlege no one has come forward claiming to have run an Anzani on a suitable pickelfork hydro. I still used conventional hydros myself to run the two I acquired in the late 1970s and still have not used one on a pickelfork hydro either. One is ready though, a big Butts Aerowing and the other one here in these threads seen being paint stripped and refinished.

Default Jim Hallums Picture Batches - Last One and the up and coming.

When it comes to Jim Hallum's videos converted to picture files on Anzanis this is about it unless he processes more at some future time. Jim did pay a lot of attention to what other classes, raceboats and engines were also around during this period of 1959 to 1976 and those will be split off and added to the other relevant sections here on BRF in the days, weeks and months to come. Now, back to Youtube video making.

Default Four carb Anzani kilo record runs in progress.

With hours of VHS tapes to process I obtained "Roxio" VHS to DVD editing software with hardware adapters to video capture the performance of the 4 carb 2 pipe Anzanis in Region 10 Kilo Trials where they were toping 107 miles per hour on one way runs with severe boat lift at wide open throttle conditions still not letting them get the fastest speeds possible to establish still higher records exceeding 100 near101mph records set earlier.

Readers can look forward to pictorials here as well as action live videos on Youtube when finished.
