Default transom build up less drag

I have a little inflatable with a 1961 johnson 10 hp on it. The transom is only 5/4 thick. I want to build it up aprox 2 inches to get the motor higher for less drag and not shoot water straight up. Any ideas?

    Default 2 X 8 From Home DePot

Just buy a 2 X 6 or 2 X 8 (About 2 feet long) and bolt it to the old transom... the transom and raise the motor just high enough not to hit the OLD transom...Works slick, I've done it many times....In the OLD days we made "KILO" boats out of our competition boats buy making the stransom higher and the 1 1/2 set back won't hurt you!

My "Starter" Wife set a kilo record with an inflatable 30 years ago with a 2 X 8 transom on an inflatable that Trailer Boats magazine owned....There is a thread on BRF somewhere here about it.
