Have to agree the 50 reed block seem very small

Could not find anything so I decided to try working on the stock cages. I soaked the cages in solvent and softened the rubber to the point where I could scrape off chunks of rubber. Once I got most of the rubber off I soda blasted the cages to get the rest off. A lot of the principal are based on RD/RZ motors and what others have done to increase flow through a small reed cage. I machined off the bridge and took off a bunch of metal near the tip to help with airflow (2 Strokes need to move alot of air through the reedvalve quickly. The easiest way to get the most air soonest (the quickly part) is to have alot of reed opening area at the very tip of the reedcage so that there's higher flow as soon as the reed opens (lower reed lifts).Since the majority of the action in a reedcage is at or starts at the tip.) Here are some pictures of my preliminary work on two of them with a stripped uncut cage as a reference. I still need to flycut the surfaces for reed seal and make some single reeds (like a YZ 80/85). but at least its a start. It should flow considerably better than stock.

That's a lot of removal. Reeds didn't need the bridge to seal?

I really wanted to clean up the mass that was at the tips of the stock reeds. I really cut down on the effective area of the stock reeds.
I was initially concerned about sucking the reed in without the bridge. In my research I found that the window area of my modified reed blocks was smaller than the YZ 85 reeds used by the RD/RZ motorcycle guys. I am going to cut my own custom single reeds for my blocks so the center seal should not be a problem.
