Old Merc ports are not so bad (although there's a problem with the cylinders being closed at one end), but modern 2-stroke ports terrify owners of CK-10s. For that matter, running over those giant ports is harder on rings than running over a bore that has not been platform-finished. These aren't 100,000 mile engines. But yeah, giving your racemotor the best of everything would make you consider soft-honing . . . .
