It was Depue, around 2001, 2002. It was the Worlds for I believe OSY. I dont know the drivers but I do remember that the boat on the right was an all composite boat.

Thats about correct. To me, whats more important is that it was a battle between two hard headed racers. In the end both crashed, damaged equipment and were injured.

Jung was driving in the typical euro style, cut and slash. In this case, a little bearing away. Kelly wasn't going to put up with that, as he shouldn't have to. After a lot of bumping, he was airborne, taking Jung with him.

Both Lucas and Jung picked up a lot of speed during the week. By race day, they still weren't the fastest, but what they gave up on the straits, they mare than made up for in the turns.

Pete actually made it out for the next heat with a lot of help. I believe both crossed the finish line even if they were airborne.

This is scanned from the Thursday July 26 1990 edition of the Peoria Journal Star. It would have to be a file photo because it is of a race heat. I'm on the inside, to my right is Dan Kirts, out front is Denny Henderson. I'm pretty sure Dan is about to get wet!

I'm guessing this was the year that Dieter brought two new generation VA engines. Kirts had one and shared it with some one on a runabout, I shared mine with Brinkmans. I'm driving Gary's 250 boat, Gary was in Gibby Petermans rig.

Following the flip it was determined that both drivers had crossed the finish line. Marian was a little sore and was done for the day. After getting checked out at the ambulance, Pete was released. But, could he make it out in time for the next heat? Well, a team of friends and competitors made sure that he did!! Can you name the helpers in this photo? Sometimes, much is made of the attitude shown by the stroke and bore PRO racers to the OSY400 drivers. I say this photo refutes that.
