That is the only number I remember you ever having. I remember you in a lot of A-Runabout races. Thanks for the memories.

S-9 Duke Johnson Westerville, Ohio, Thanks Wayne!
Thanks Duke. Glad you're out there. I keep getting surprised by people i haven't heard from in years. Stay tuned because I have more. Don't know if I will ever get to the end.
Photo #1 - Who is driving the F4 numbered boat?
Looks like an Italian flag.................
Hello Paul- you are from England aren't you? Of course you are interested in the Lakeland World Championships.... you were there! The boat (F-4) was Don Eldredge's boat, that was his APBA number, I would have to guess that he loaned it out. I ran my regular number (B-1) because I didn't have a UIM assigned number.
I enjoy learning about what is happening "overseas" with the PRO outboards and have alway wanted to go over there an race someday! What truly amazed me- at those World Championships, I had a deck to deck race with a Germany boat that lasted for about 3 laps! Finally, an Italian came between us and cut him off in a turn.. so I retained my position having passed someone and having been passed! I thought that it was amazing because we each had equipment that came from totally different scources! Engine: Yamato/ Konig. Boat: Pugh/ ?. Prop: Dewald/ ? ..... I never would have thought that performance would have been identical! I'm sure that many of you remember that at one time, you realized the same thing!
Wayne,
I hope the pics don't run out, they bring back great memories, Thanks, Duke
Peter, yes I am from England, but no I wasn't in Lakeland. But many were and Ihave heard lots of tales.........
It is a shame that there is such a struggle to put on a truly global World Championship - as you have said, often the equipment is completely different and yet whatever the make, size or shape it all seems to work the same!
Paul--Do you know "Pip" Willy and Chris Applebee?
Back to the states. Here are some AOF races from Marine Creek Lake near Fort Worth in 1978
Some photos from Alexandria 1978.
