In post number 43, page 5 of this thread, there is a picture with an old friend of mine, Floyd "Smitty" Smith. He was a member of the GN37 racing team of Dr. Cannan's, and later he was part of Betty Cook's "Kudu" team. Does anyone else have any memories or reccolections of Smitty? He always told us lots of boat racing stories but would be interested to hear from someone else about him. He's still with us, living in AZ across the river from Needles

As a boy I saw Tom Percival and Bob Spalding race at our home club. Many times in the 70's and 80's. So it is a great pleasure to see pics on this site.
Just a couple of weeks before his death I saw Tom lap our 2/3 mile 2 buoy course in 27.78secs.
Thanks again for posting the pictures.

Cees Vander Velden and Billy Seebold were teammates for Mercury and both boat builders, one in Europe and one in the United States so the advantage was utilized at the time and worked well. Bob
